On Saturday, October 10, the student-run nonprofit organization Honor Xcellence Fund held its first charity sale at the Stars Hollow Market in Middleton!
This market was part of Stars Hollow Days—Middleton’s Gilmore Girls-themed autumn festival. With bustling crowds at Stone Horse Green throughout the weekend, it was the perfect stage for their debut.
Run by five students from four different schools, the booth sold pens, notebooks, stickers, keychains, and more. Thanks to the high quality, innovative design, and diverse variety of the stationery, it attracted a large crowd.
Through serving the community, the students developed their confidence, communication skills, observational abilities, and spirit of service, while also strengthening their sense of community belonging. Customers streamed in throughout the afternoon, and the team successfully achieved their fundraising goal! 🙌
The students also handed out free souvenirs at the booth. After learning more about the foundation's mission, this gentleman chose not to buy stationery and instead made a direct donation. Every dollar raised through the sale will go toward supporting other non-profit organizations, including hospitals, schools, and disaster relief efforts.
The courage and performance of the students during this social practice event were truly heartening. It was a major step forward on their journey to becoming pillars of society. 👏
